Jill Simpson is a professional fitness/dance instructor with a specialization in aging populations. She has her Geriatric Certification from McMaster and has worked with the Alzheimer Society and MS Society. Jill is an Osteoporosis Society Bonefit®, Canfitpro, and CCAA-certified Seniors’ Fitness Specialist, as well as an NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills Coach. A specialist in brain health and positive aging, she is the developer of The Great Brain Workout – Fitness for Your Aging Brain, a program that runs in four locations across the Kitchener/Waterloo region. Her bi-monthly ‘Fitness for Your Aging Brain’ column appears in Embracing Change Magazine. Jill is currently working on a short documentary film about dispelling the negative stereotypes of aging.

RETHINKING AGING – An Interactive Workshop

Where do our negative stereotypes of aging come from? Why do so many of us unquestionably buy into them? Rethinking Aging introduces you to recent scientific research that turns the tables on many of our aging myths and encourages you to examine your own beliefs and expectations about growing old. Listen, learn, and take part in some thought-provoking exercises that examine what it means to be a ‘senior’ in this culture. The workshop encourages seniors to stand up and proudly take charge of the rest of their lives by designing a positive aging plan to create a series of personal bests throughout a lifetime. FITNESS FOR YOUR AGING BRAIN – A Presentation with Audience Participation
